Creamy garlic Parmesan orzo is a quick, one-pot pasta dinner full of cozy flavors. Tender orzo is simmered in broth and finished with garlic, cream, and cheese for the perfect weeknight comfort meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dry orzo

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 small shallot (or ½ yellow onion), finely diced

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 2½ cups chicken or vegetable broth (low-sodium)

  • ¼ cup heavy cream

  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • Optional: baby spinach, lemon zest, fresh parsley

Instructions

  • In a skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium.

  • Add garlic and shallot; sauté 2–3 minutes.

  • Stir in orzo and toast for 1–2 minutes.

  • Pour in broth; simmer on low, partially covered, stirring often.

  • Cook 10–12 minutes, until orzo is tender and most liquid is absorbed.

  • Stir in cream and Parmesan. Season to taste.

  • Add spinach or lemon zest if using. Serve warm, garnished with herbs.

Notes

To reheat, add a splash of broth. Store in the fridge up to 3 days. Add shrimp, chicken, or veggies to customize.
