A creamy one-pot pasta that brings all the flavors of a classic cheeseburger into a comforting skillet dinner. Fast, family-friendly, and incredibly satisfying.
1 lb ground beef
1 small yellow onion, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp tomato paste
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
2 cups low-sodium beef broth
1 cup dry orzo pasta
½ cup heavy cream
1½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Chopped dill pickles and green onions, for garnish
In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Season with salt and pepper. Drain excess grease if needed.
Add onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.
Add tomato paste, Worcestershire, and mustard. Stir well and cook 2 minutes.
Pour in beef broth and add orzo. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally.
Cover partially and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring often, until orzo is tender and liquid is mostly absorbed.
Stir in cream and cheese until melted and creamy. Adjust seasoning.
Serve hot, topped with pickles and green onions if desired.
Use turkey or plant-based meat for a variation.
Add cooked bacon or a splash of hot sauce for extra flavor.
Reheat with added broth to maintain creamy texture.
