This easy one-pot cheeseburger orzo skillet combines savory ground beef, creamy orzo pasta, and melty cheddar cheese in a comforting weeknight dinner — ready in under 30 minutes.
1 lb ground beef
1 small yellow onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 cups beef broth
1 cup orzo pasta
1½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
1 tbsp ketchup (optional)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Optional toppings: pickles, diced tomato, shredded lettuce
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and sauté onion for 3–4 minutes until soft.
Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
Brown ground beef, breaking it apart, until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire, ketchup, and mustard. Cook for 1 minute.
Add orzo and beef broth. Stir to combine. Bring to a simmer.
Cover and cook on low heat for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender.
Remove from heat and stir in cheddar cheese until melted.
Let rest uncovered for 3–5 minutes. Garnish and serve.
Use ground turkey or chicken as a leaner alternative.
Add diced pickles or fresh tomato on top for a cheeseburger finish.
Store leftovers in the fridge for 3–4 days or freeze up to 2 months.
