A creamy, cheesy one-skillet meal that combines all the flavors of a classic cheeseburger with tender orzo pasta. Perfect for weeknights, kids, and one-pot comfort food fans.
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 cup orzo pasta
2 ½ cups beef broth
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
¼ cup milk or cream
Salt and black pepper to taste
Optional: 1 tsp yellow mustard, chopped dill pickles for garnish
In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
Add onion and cook until soft, about 4 minutes. Stir in garlic.
Mix in tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for 1 minute.
Add orzo and beef broth. Bring to boil, reduce to simmer, and cover.
Cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender.
Stir in cheese and milk. Mix until creamy and melted.
Season to taste. Garnish with chopped pickles or parsley if desired.
Add bacon for a bacon cheeseburger twist.
Use ground turkey or veggie crumbles for a lighter version.
Reheats well and great for leftovers.
